Revolution Plus offers broad-spectrum protection against 6 types of parasites, now including ticks.

Zoetis announced today that Revolution Plus (selamectin and sarolaner topical solution), a 6-in-1 feline parasite preventive that now protects against ticks, has been approved by the FDA.

According to a company press release, Revolution Plus protects against fleas (Ctenocephalides felis), ticks (black-legged or deer tick [Ixodes scapularis], Gulf Coast tick [Amblyomma maculatum], and American dog tick [Dermacentor variabilis]), ear mites (Otodectes cynotis), roundworms (Toxocara cati), hookworms (Ancylostoma tubaeforme), and heartworms (Dirofilaria immitis). The product can be used in cats and kittens as young as 8 weeks of age and weighing at least 2.8 lb.

“With the approval of Revolution Plus, veterinarians, practice staff and pet owners can further enhance the special bond between cats and their human families by addressing the threat of ticks without sacrificing the broad-spectrum effectiveness they expect and trust from feline Revolution,” said Tara Bidgood, DVM, PhD, DACVCP, executive director, Veterinary Professional Services at Zoetis Petcare, in a prepared statement. “By adding sarolaner to selamectin, we have produced an innovative combination product with a broad endo- and ectoparasiticide spectrum for cats and kittens.”

Like its predecessor, Revolution Plus is a monthly topical preventive. The product is expected to start shipping early next year. Prelaunch savings are available from Zoetis.
