Most practices avoiding doctor layoffs
Despite the current recession, few practices have laid off doctors.

Rarely have veterinarians been laid off during past recessions. While most doctors' jobs seem to be secure, the percentage of practices that have already laid off a doctor or plan to indicates practice owners' concerns about the recession. This data comes from the January 2009 survey of National Commission on Veterinary Economic Issues users.
