Morris Animal Foundation kicks off annual Stop Cancer Furever campaign

May 5, 2023
dvm360 Staff

The campaign will fund animal cancer research through donations provided by Petco Love and Blue Buffalo

On May 1, 2023, Morris Animal Foundation announced the launch of its annual Stop Cancer Furever campaign. Ending on June 30, 2023, Petco Love and Blue Buffalo will provide a dollar-for-dollar match for all gifts up to $100,000 to help raise awareness about animal cancer and fund research for advancing cancer prevention, diagnostics, and treatments.

"Each year, millions of animals are diagnosed with cancer in the United States alone," said Tiffany Grunert, Morris Animal Foundation president and CEO, in an organizational release.1 "For more than 60 years, the Foundation has been funding animal cancer-focused research projects. Stop Cancer Furever is about sharing hope for the future of cancer treatment, increasing awareness, and asking people who love animals to help in this mission."

According to an organizational release, Morris Animal Foundation has also funded 400 cancer studies, invested $55 million, and made strides against cancer thanks to generous donor support beginning in 1962. During the Stop Cancer Furever campaign, any gifts will be invested in the hemangiosarcoma initiative and help fund other animal cancer studies including1:

Along with funds for research, Morris Animal Foundation will give pet owners and animal loves downloadable cancer prevention checklists and educational cancer-related content for free.1 Pet owners can also share why stopping animal cancer is important to them by visiting the Foundation’s Stop Cancer Furever Pledge website.
