The Foundation for the Horse announced it will award $5,00 Merck Animal Health Scholarships to 5 veterinary students who plan to have a career in equine medicine and will be graduating in 2025. Established in 2015, the Merck Animal Health Scholarship has awarded 40 veterinary students scholarships making a total of $200,000.

“Merck Animal Health is pleased to provide scholarships to these deserving students as they pursue an education and career in equine veterinary medicine,” said Bryant W. Craig, DVM, Merck Animal Health Equine Professional Services Associate Director, in an organizational release.1

“As the costs of higher education continue to rise, helping to offset some of that expense is one of the ways we continue to give back to our industry and its future leaders. We are a proud partner with the AAEP, and many thanks goes to their leadership and members for their help in administering this program that not only impacts award winners but all of us involved in this amazing profession,” he continued.1

According to the release, interested students must be in the United States, Canada, the Caribbean, and Europe while demonstrating academic excellence, and leadership in their college and the school’s American Association of Equine Practitioners (AAEP) student chapter. Interested students must also have support from AAEP members and their clinical instructors.1

The application deadline is April 15, and interested students can learn more information and apply at the Foundation for the Horse website.
