GeneBact Biotechnologies introduces V Strip 2 for detecting subclinicalcases of mastitis in lactating dairy cows. V Strip 2 is designed to detectelevated levels of both somatic cells (white blood cells) and actively respiringbacteria in fresh, raw milk, the company says. Taken together these resultsmay be used to identify subclinical cases of mastitis, i.e. prior to theonset of clinical symptoms, the company says. Initiation of antibiotic treatmentat the subclinical stage of the disease may be of significant benefit inmanaging mastitis. V Strip 2 can also monitor the effectiveness of antibiotictherapy during the course of the infection, the company says.
