SAP Partners | IGNITE

His extensive background in the animal health business will enable him to further accelerate the company's growth initiatives.

IGNITE Veterinary Solutions—an international veterinary learning and knowledge company—has appointed Mark J. Shaw to its Board of Directors and as its CEO. Shaw’s responsibilities will include furthering IGNITE’s strong expansion momentum and delivering value to veterinary customers and industry partners through a multitude of growth initiatives.

According to a company release, Jill Clark, DVM, IGNITE founder, will now serve as the company’s chief visionary officer, continuing her passion for providing innovative knowledge and educational content for veterinary professionals.

“I have never been more excited about the future of IGNITE®. As a strategic and experienced leader, the addition of Mark to our team is incredibly valuable to IGNITE’s future growth. We are intentionally adding capabilities that help accelerate our company’s purpose and potential while advancing our global veterinary reach,” said Clark.

Shaw’s role at IGNITE follows his position as president of MWI Animal Health—an AmerisourceBergen company—which along with its leading global animal health distribution businesses, included Micro Technologies, Securos Surgical, AllyDVM and VetOne. Shaw joined MWI through its acquisition of Micro Technologies in 2011 in which he served as an owner, president and CEO, according to the release.

With a bachelor’s degree in Animal Science and Business from Oklahoma State University, Shaw was also recently inducted into the Oklahoma State inaugural Cowboy 100 and Blazing 15 which recognizes business leadership and entrepreneurial accomplishments.

“IGNITE® is a proven market leader, boldly innovating tools for the veterinary profession and the animal health industry. I believe the company is well positioned and the need for its innovative products and solutions has never been more important than during this time of dynamic industry growth and change,” remarked Shaw.

“Market expansion, increasing pet owner demands, competitive retail and online pressures, and ongoing market consolidation are all issues driving the need for continuous upskilling across the hospital. As a result, veterinarians, practice owners and managers are decidedly prioritizing the importance of adopting learning and development as a necessary business imperative,” he added.

Shaw concluded by stating that he is excited for the opportunity to collaborate with Clark and the exceptional IGNITE team to continuously accelerate animal care for veterinarians and their clients.
