-- Horse owners in southern Louisiana with equine needs they can't meet or with questions related to storms like Hurricane Gustav have a new resource.
Louisiana State Unversity's School of Veterinary Medicine and Equine Health Studies have teamed up to host a call center as long as needed for owners affected following Hurricane Gustav's Labor Day weekend hit on the Gulf Coast.
No equine emergencies have been reported, according to school officials, but flooding from the storm continues in some areas.
The hotline, which can be accessed at two numbers in case of heavy use, is (225) 578-9501 or (225) 578-9062. Phone lines are open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
