BROOKINGS,S.D. - 7/12/06 - A way to test for Chronic Wasting Disease in live animals is being researched at South Dakota State University.
The project is being funded by the United States Department of Defense Small Business Technology Transfer Program through a $750,000 grant.
The goal of the project is to have a test available for commercial use within the next few years, says Christopher Mateo, RTI Manager of operations, in a prepared statement. Tests on other prion-based diseases will be explored once a method is determined for CWD.
