The project is being funded by the United States Department of Defense Small Business Technology Transfer Program through a $750,000 grant.
The goal of the project is to have a test available for commercial use within the next few years, says Christopher Mateo, RTI Manager of operations, in a prepared statement. Tests on other prion-based diseases will be explored once a method is determined for CWD.
