MADISON, WIS. — A University of Wisconsin-Madison veterinary school virologist was recognized for his research on how influenza viruses replicate and the genetic contributors to virulence.

Dr. Yoshihiro Kawaoka was awarded the Presidential Citation by the MIT Alumni Association, the group's highest honor. The MIT Club of Wisconsin, a state association for Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) alumni, recognized Kawaoka last month during its annual technology achievement awards banquet in Waukesha, Wis.
