Improvements on any budget

Article

Make the most of your money with an investment to refresh your practice.

Kimberli Bragg, a partner with thoughtSPACE architecture firm in Lexington, Ky., offers these suggestions for any budget.

$1,000 OR LESS

  • Cater a lunch for your team on a weekend day and ask them to perform a thorough spring cleaning, including purging old files, equipment, and miscellaneous clutter; performing touch-up painting; and tidying up the practice, both inside and outside.

$2,500 OR LESS

Choose one:

  • Hire landscape experts and add some color with plants. Work on creating a clear, visible path from the road to the front door.

  • Make your practice ADA-accessible. Remember, dogs need ramps too. For more, visit dvm360.com and search "ADA accessibility."

  • Update your sign. You could install lighting, repaint the sign, or add landscaping around the base.

  • Add night lighting and wireless cameras to improve the safety of your practice and your team members.

$5,000 TO $10,000

Choose one:

  • Invest in proper ventilation to eliminate odors that turn off clients.

  • Repaint your building.

  • Install a new roof.

  • Invest in branding and a new sign. Create a cohesive image to send a strong marketing message.

  • Create a focal point at the entry, like a water feature or pergola.
