Idea Exchange: Shower caps keep dental patients dry

To prevent our dental prophylaxis patients from looking like wet mops, we place disposable plastic shower caps on them. The caps effectively repel water, blood, prophy paste, and flying bits of calculus. We make a small slice in the center of the cap and slip the animal's muzzle through. The elastic portion is placed behind the animal's ears. The caps reduce the time we spend on drying and brushing patients, especially the longhaired ones. Each cap costs about 15 cents when purchased in a package of eight or 10.
