Idea Exchange: Get great grip with rubber-coated tongs
Handle fecal centrifuge tubes safely with this reader tip.

To minimize the zoonotic risk associated with handling fecal centrifuge tubes, we tried using kitchen tongs to hold them but found that the metal tips slipped on the plastic tubes. So we purchased rubber coating (Plasti Dip—Plasti Dip International) at a home improvement store and dipped the tips of the tongs into the coating. The rubber coating created a great grip for handling fecal tubes, and it's environmentally friendly, too.
