When a fractious cat comes in for an annual exam, spray the exam room with Feliway (Ceva Animal Health) and let it set in for several minutes. Then let the client and cat sit in the room a few minutes before beginning the exam. The synthetic pheromone often reduces the cat's anxiety and allows you to examine the cat without any problems.
