HSUS conference focuses on animals in disaster

The conference aims to facilitate discussion on topics including:
- Improving evacuation, rescue and shelter policies

- Establishing contacts with federal, state and emergency management associations
- Developing field rescue operations
- General veterinary medical issues
- International, federal, state and local planning and response methods
Held every two years, the 2006 conference featured Department of Homeland Security officials and was attended by emergency management and animal experts nationwide.
