I found an easy way to make a small, lightweight, affordable, and portable tomcat castration positioner. I use a SAM Splint and cut it down the center to make two 2-inch-wide strips. I then cut those strips crosswise into two sections—one about 14 inches long (for kittens), and the other about 22 inches long (for bigger toms). I fold the splint pieces into an "M" shape. Place the cat in dorsal recumbency with the center of the splint under his thoracolumbar region. Position his back legs cranially so the peaks of the "M" fold around the back of his thighs, locking his legs into position.
