Henry Schein, Butler Animal Health join forces

Melville, N.Y. and Dublin, Ohio -- A joint venture between Henry Schein Inc. and Butler Animal Health Supply will make the new company the largest veterinary sales and distribution company in the United States.

-- Henry Schein Inc. and Butler Animal Health Supply announced the formation of a new joint venture on Nov. 30, making Butler Schein Animal Health the largest veterinary sales and distribution company in the United States.

Butler Schein Animal Health will be 50.1 percent owned by Henry Schein and 49.9 percent owned by Butler Animal Health Supply.

Last year's combined revenue of the two companies was $850 million. No changes were planned that would impact veterinary customers other than increased selection and efficiency in ordering, according to prepared statements by both companies. The formation of the new combined business is expected to be completed by the end of the year.
