Florida to require new prescription permit

TALLAHASSEE, FLA. — Anyone selling veterinary prescription drugs in the state of Florida, including veterinarians, soon will need to buy a permit from the state.

The veterinary prescription drug retail establishment permit aims to discourage drug diversion and the sale of drugs in excessive amounts or for reasons other than what is stipulated. The law goes into effect Jan. 1, 2009.
