Switzerland

-- A new list of equine prohibited substances was approved by the Fédération Equestre Internationale (FEI) and prohibits the use of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) in competition.

The recommendation comes after a year of consultation from experts, according to FEI, though the group did agree to provide more guidance on detection times for the post-event use of some NSAIDs like phenylbutazone and flunixin.Salicyclic acid also is banned from events, but FEI has raised the current threshold level to match other international authorities.

The list of prohibited substances can be found at www.fei.org, and is available on a new application for the iPhone. The free mobile application can be downloaded at the iTunes Store. This Clean Sport app allows users immediate access to the FEI Equine Prohibited Substances database. Even though the app is only compatible with iPhones, FEI is looking into adapting the program for other smart phones.
