Pharmacia Animal Health announces that Lincomix® Feed Medicationreceived clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) foruse in the control of porcine proliferative enteropathy, or ileitis, a diseaseof grow/finish pigs. Lincomix is the only FDA-approved product that controlsileitis and reduces the severity of mycoplasmal pneumonia. Ileitis, whichcauses intestinal lesions, is a serious disease that drains profits dueto extra feed costs and space required to house unproductive animals. Inaddition to being costly, ileitis can spread through a herd if left undetected,the company says.
