Equine DVMs honored for hoof-care

Brookfield, Wis.-The International Equine Veterinarians Hall of Fame honors two in the horse healthcare field for their emphasis on foot care.

Brookfield, Wis.-The International Equine Veterinarians Hall of Fame honors two in thehorse healthcare field for their emphasis on foot care.

In the research category, Dr. Hilary Clayton of East Lansing, Mich.,is honored. Dr. Matthew Mackay-Smith of White Post, Va., is recognized inthe practicing equine veterinarian category.

Clayton, who has held various academic appointments and currently servesat Michigan State University's Mary Anne McPhail Equine Performance Center,has conducted extensive research on locomotion in sport horses, gait asymmetriesassociated with lameness and the development of conditioning for sport horses.

Mackay-Smith, veterinary medicine editor of Equus magazine, has playeda role in farrier and veterinary relations while serving on the AAEP Veterinarian-FarrierLiaison Committee.
