Earmuffs Anti-Anxiety Spray harnesses a pet owner's scent to resolve dog anxiety

January 31, 2022
dvm360 Staff

The scent triggers happiness in a dog's brain, ultimately helping to soothe and reduce anxiety caused by stressful events.

Animal Science Labs, the creators of K9 Comfort Spray, has released their latest formulation—Earmuffs Anti-Anxiety Spray—which contains a dog owner's scent molecules to offer a sense of calm and comfort for pets when used before stressful events.

"Anyone whose experienced their dogs suffering from noise anxiety knows how helpless they feel," said Leslie Yellin, co-founder of Animal Science Labs, in a company release.1 "Witnessing the transformation in people's dogs when using this product is life changing not just for the dogs, but their humans too."

Earmuffs Anti-Anxiety Spray can help dogs that suffer during loud noises such as those from:

  • Fireworks

  • Thunderstorms
  • Loud vehicles (ie, airplanes)
  • Crying babies
  • Alarms/sirens
  • Vacuums

Emory University research has revealed that a dog owner's scent is scientifically proven to trigger happiness within a dog’s brain.2 MRIs confirmed that over any other scent, the owner's scent fostered the most positive emotions for dogs even when the owner was not present. Therefore, when a dog inhales the Earmuffs Anti-Anxiety Spray, it relaxes the dog.

Earmuffs Anti-Anxiety Spray is 100% natural and includes essential oils known for calming properties such as lavender, spikenard, neroli, and Human Molecular Extraction (HME), a highly concentrated extract of the dog owner's scent molecules. HME has no noticeable scent to humans. This combination relaxes dogs while decreasing noise-induced anxiety.1

To obtain the customized scent, pet parents receive a collection kit in the mail, rub several cotton pads around their bodies, and send it back to be processed. Pet owners spray their dog's favorite blanket, bed, toy, or bandana with the product prior to them being exposed to loud noises or changes in their environment.

Earmuffs Anti-Anxiety Spray, plus the full line of calming products, are available on K9ComfortSpray.com and Amazon.
