dvm360® product report: PEA supplement, plus VETIGEL and more
Here's our regular rundown of new and notable veterinary products
PEA Supplement
Judy Morgan, DVM, CVA, CVCP, CVFT, has debuted her new pet supplement, Dr. Judy’s PEA. Palmitoylethanolamide (PEA) is an endocannabinoid-like lipid mediator with documented anti-inflammatory, analgesic, antimicrobial, immunomodulatory, and neuroprotective effects. PEA can provide therapeutic benefits such as immunity, brain health, allergy, pain modulation, joint health, sleep, and recovery.
Lick Mat
SodaPup’s new lick mat, Tree of Life eMat, is made with suction cups on the back to stick to the ground to keep the mat in place. The difficulty is moderate, and the mat is 8 inches in diameter and made with a synthetic rubber material. Lick mats give pets mental stimulation and licking can be soothing if they are bored or stressed.
VETIGEL
VETIGEL by Cresilon is brought to the veterinary market by Penn Veterinary Supply and is designed to stop and control bleeding without the need to apply manual pressure. VETIGEL is plant based and hemostatic that can be used for treating traumatic wounds and surgical procedures. The gel is supplied in a pre-filled syringe and requires no preparation or special storage conditions.
Nature’s Blend Radiant Select
Dr. Marty Pets has unveiled its Nature’s Blend Radiant Select dog food, a premium freeze-dried raw formula ideal for dogs with dry skin and dull coats. The formula is rich in ω-3 fatty acids as the first 5 ingredients are pollock, beef heart, tuna, salmon, and beef liver. Nature’s Blend Radiant Select also features superfoods such as flaxseed, apples, blueberries, cranberries, and ginger to promote overall health. It is made from whole foods only, and contains no artificial vitamins or minerals, colors, or preservatives.
Pet Travel Services
To help streamline the process of obtaining the required International Health Certificates for traveling abroad with pets, GlobalVetLink (GVL) and BetterVet have joined forces to use the GVL Compliance Assistant Pet TravelPass. GVL Compliance Assistant allows BetterVet mobile veterinarians to complete USDA-required documentation needed for international pet travel. This tool monitors applicable state, federal, and international regulatory requirements for more accurate, compliant animal health and movement documents.
