The American Association of Equine Practitioners (AAEP) published these guidelines to help veterinarians with detecting, controlling, and preventing Equine Piroplasmosis (EP). EP is a tick-borne or blood-borne protozoal disease of equids. The guidelines include a definition of EP, clinical signs, risk factors, diagnostic and treatment methods, and more. They were reviewed and approved by the AAEP Infectious Disease Committee and board of directors.
