dvm360® product report: AI radiology, plus feline pain toolkit, and more
Here's our regular rundown of new and notable veterinary products
Postadoption support platform
Petszel is a new online platform for the postadoption journey. It connects shelters and owners for a seamless communication experience, and it supplies information about nearby veterinary services in the user’s area. Users can review medical records from animal shelters, schedule appointments, get pet care advice, access breed- and age-specific resources, and more. Petszel is specially designed for shelters and is free for animal welfare organizations.
AI radiology
Radimal connects directly to a practice’s x-ray machine, and information is sent through artificial intelligence (AI) to conduct a preliminary analysis. A live radiologist reviews the case and consults the AI findings, using them to validate their observations and guide their examination. The report includes the case history, patient images, an easily interpretable visual representation of the examined systems and findings, and clinical notes. Average return times are 4 minutes for AI assessments, 40 minutes for 1-hour STAT consultations, and 3.5 hours for 48-hour standard consultations.
Skincare line
Pet Honesty has unveiled a new skin care line, Restore + Soothe, aimed at promoting healthier skin and preventing itch and irritation. The product line includes the Restore + Soothe 2 in 1 shampoo and conditioner, body spray, and ear cleaning solution. What sets this skin care line apart from others is its MicroSilver ingredient, which has been shown to eliminate bad bacteria without harming the essential good bacteria beneath.
Dental treats
Dental Delights by Stella & Chewy’s are dental hygiene treats for dogs, specially designed to roll and flip for extra stimulation. Each treat includes ridges and nubs for flossing and scraping, helping prevent plaque and tartar buildup. Dental Delights features peppermint and parsley flakes for fresh breath and cage-free freeze-dried chicken for flavor.
Feline pain toolkit
The Chronic Pain Educational Toolkit from the American Association of Feline Practitioners (AAFP) gives veterinary professionals insights and resources to effectively address chronic pain in feline patients. The toolkit offers a deep dive into the pathology, types, and prevalence of chronic pain in feline patients and can help veterinary professionals explore various assessment methods. AAFP provides effective therapy goals with practical applications, incorporating pharmaceuticals, environmental modifications, and nutrition.
AI-powered dog collar
PetPace 2.0 is a dog collar powered by artificial intelligence (AI) that displays continuous, real-time medical insights. The collected data can be used for early detection, treatment, monitoring, and GPS tracking. The smart collar measures all major vital signs and health- related biometrics, including temperature, pulse, respiratory rate, heart rate, sleep quality, activity (calories burned), and more.
