New capability gives practitioners another option to grow revenue and improve client experience through Chewy’s e-commerce pharmacy solution

Compounded medications are being added to selections offered to veterinarians at Practice Hub, an e-commerce platform from Chewy Inc. Practice Hub expanded pharmacy selection will provide veterinarians with the ability to create and approve prescriptions for thousands of compounded medications in a variety of strengths, flavors, and formulations, according to a company press release.

Using Practice Hub, prescribing a compounded medication requires only clicking a few buttons, according to Chewy. Veterinarians choose the medication, dosage, formulation, and flavor directly in the digital platform and use the same simple approval steps as they would for a standard prescription. Veterinarians have access to 6 popular formulations—capsule, oral liquid, chewable, transdermal gel, paste, and powder—and 4 flavors to help ensure even the most finicky pet has options.

All compounded medications are formulated at and shipped from Chewy’s compounding pharmacy, which is accredited by the Pharmacy Compounding Accreditation Board. Practice Hub is open 7 days per week, with orders over $49 qualifying for free shipping to pet parents, on behalf of the clinic.

With Practice Hub, veterinarians no longer need to leverage multiple third-party pharmacies for compounded medications. According to Chewy, eliminating the need to use multiple third-party pharmacies makes it easier and more affordable for pet parents to get the medications they need to keep their pets happy and healthy.

Launched as an invite-only platform in September 2021, and opened to all veterinary practices in January 2022, Practice Hub is a complete e-commerce pharmacy solution that is designed to empower veterinarians to save time and increase revenue, while providing a great customer experience for their clients. The platform leverages Chewy’s selection of pharmacy and veterinary diet products, quick and reliable delivery, unparalleled customer care team, and Autoship subscription service, according to the press release.

“Practice Hub is uniquely positioned to help veterinarians respond to the increasing shift of pet parent spend towards online channels. By offering a private marketplace with access to more than 20 million customers nationwide, combined with simple and easy-to-use prescription tools and our world-class compounding pharmacy, we are creating more time for vets to spend with their clients, directing more revenue into their clinics, and placing more power in the hands of vets everywhere,” said Jon Alexander, vice president of Healthcare at Chewy, in the press release.

Hundreds of clinics have signed up for Practice Hub, including independent veterinary practices, large hospitals, and nationwide veterinary groups, according to the company.
