Diabetes guide helps clients manage the disease in pets

Article

A new book might help calm the fears of clients caring for a diabetic pet.

While diabetes threatens the lives of adults and children across the country, few are aware that the disease also affects their pets. To help educate pet owners, Randi E. Golub, CVT, has written Sugarbabies: A Holistic Guide to Caring for Your Diabetic Pet. The guide acts as a supplement to veterinary care by teaching pet owners about caring for their furry friends with the goal of improving their lives.

Sugarbabies offers holistic and practical information to pet owners. After her cat Alex was diagnosed with diabetes in 1999, Golub searched for ways to enable him to live a happier and healthier life. As a result, this book includes information on the signs of diabetes in cats and dogs and how to monitor and balance treatments through diet and exercise. It also includes frequently asked questions about diabetes and offers tips to help pet owners communicate with their veterinarian.
