
Conference Insider: FelineVMA springs into CE action
The veterinary medical association is offering multiple education opportunities for professionals and students.
The Feline Veterinary Medical Association (FelineVMA) is furthering feline medicine education in 2026 with a trio of continuing education (CE) events. The organization is also offering a scholarship opportunity to attend the organization’s annual live conference.1-4
Vet Tech Purrposium
The 2026 Vet Tech Purrposium is a virtual CE event to be held on March 25 and features veterinary technician speakers with expertise in feline medicine.1
This year’s event will feature 3 speakers: Caitlin Dutcher-Lundy, BS, RVT, VTS (CP-Feline), director of clinical operations for Faithful Friends Veterinary Clinic and Cat Specialty Center in Dublin, Ohio; Alison Gottlieb, BS, CVT, VTS (ECC), owner of Four Paws Consulting LLC, based in Pennsylvania; and Yvonne Brandenburg, RVT, CVT, VTS (Internal Medicine – Small Animal), a clinical learning and development specialist with Ethos Veterinary Health in Oregon. These speakers will guide attendees to learning about challenges unique to feline nursing care, development of a feline pain veterinary team, and practical strategies for treating cats with renal disease.1
Spring into Feline Medicine eConference
The FelineVMA Spring into Feline Medicine eConference. This virtual program will run live CE sessions on April 19,April 29, and May 9, 2026. Session recordings will be available on demand within a few days following their initial presentations, and through December 31, 2026,according to FelineVMA.2
The virtual conference offers attendees the opportunity to earn up to 14 RACE-approved continuing education (CE) credits with a lineup of medical, behavioral, and wellbeingsessions. Topics include issues affecting veterinary practices, such as emerging approaches to diagnosing, treatment for common feline conditions, and practical strategies for improving the quality of life of cats and their caregivers. Live sessions will include interactive Q&A periods with their expert speakers.2
“We are excited to bring back Spring into Feline Medicine in 2026 — a 3-day virtual gathering aimed at empowering veterinary professionals with the latest advancements in feline care,” Heather O’Steen, CAE, CEO for FelineVMA, said in a news release.2 “The eConference reflects our dedication to high-quality, flexible education that accommodates busy schedules and fosters connections among colleagues worldwide to enhance the lives of cats.”
FelineVMA Annual Conference
The 2026 iteration of FelineVMA’s annual conference will be held September 24-27 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. This year’s theme is “Whiskers and Wisdom: Senior care, endocrinology, infectious disease, and latest feline innovations” with many CE sessions following those topics.3
The conference will offer workshops, lunch and learn sessions, a masterclass and bootcamp in addition to CE sessions. Although the conference does not offer livestreaming of its CE sessions, on-demand virtual access of recordings will be available to in-person attendees about 4 to 5 weeks after the conclusion of the live event.3
Scholarships for veterinary students
Third- and fourth-year students enrolled in veterinary colleges or schools accredited by the American Veterinary Medical Association are eligible to apply for two $5000 scholarships provided by a partnership between FelineVMA and the EveryCat Health Foundation.4
“Collaborating with the FelineVMA enhances our mission to push feline health forward,” Jackie Jaakola, president and CEO for EveryCat Health Foundation, said in a news release.4 “By empowering dedicated students, we’re fueling the next wave of breakthroughs that will transform the lives of cats everywhere.”
The scholarships will be awarded based on criteria that includes academic achievement, financial need, leadership skills, and excellence in feline medicine, according to FelineVMA. Recipients of the scholarships awards also receive complimentary registration to the FelineVMA 2026 Annual Conference as well as up to $500 in travel reimbursement.4
“We are deeply committed to strengthening the future of feline medicine by investing in future leaders,” O’Steen, said.4 “This scholarship…helps reduce financial barriers for veterinary professionals dedicated to advancing feline health and wellbeing. By supporting their education and growth, we are not only empowering individual careers but also elevating feline care and strengthening the veterinary community.”
Scholarship applications are available on both partner organizations’ websites: catvets.com and everycat.org. Candidacy requires answers to 2 essay questions and submission of supplementary documents. The deadline to apply is March 22, 2026, with recipients notified by May 1, 2026.4
