This course is designed for the veterinarian who wishes to learn/refine the lateral suture technique and to understand the major advantages of PowerX Crimping System. This course will include a comprehensive discussion of the biomechanics of the lateral suture technique, preoperative planning techniques, postoperative management/ rehabilitation and how best to prevent and treat postoperative complications. The lateral suture technique will be taught in a step-by-step fashion with the assistance of intraoperative videos and practiced on canine cadavers. This course will discuss and demonstrate the lateral suture approach to the stifle, removal of the cruciate remnants, inspection of the medial meniscus, meniscal release and removal of the caudal horn of the medial meniscus, identification of the proper placement of the suture, application of a lateral suture using a precise crimping system and critique of your repair.* This program was reviewed and approved by the AAVSB RACE program for 9 hours of continuing education in jurisdictions which recognize AAVSB RACE approval.
