The most common time veterinarians perform lymph node aspiration is when the lymph node is enlarged, Dr. Barger says. But the other time you should aspirate a lymph node is if the animal has another kind of tumor and you're worried the tumor may have traveled to the lymph node or metastasized to the lymph node.
