Veterinary Dentistry Specialists opens sixth location in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Veterinary Dentistry Specialists (VDS), a national network of specialty veterinary dentistry and oral surgery practices, has opened its sixth location at 1710 Fairmount Avenue in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The practice is unique in that board-certified veterinary specialists in both dentistry and anesthesiology collaborate on each patient's care, a combination the company says ensures the safest and most comfortable outcomes possible.

The Philadelphia location is led by Carlos Rice, DVM, DAVDC, founder of the VDS network, alongside Viacheslav Eroshin, DVM, DEVDC, DAVDC, described by the company as an internationally recognized expert in the profession.

"Our mission is to provide a level of care and service that elevates the quality of life for our patients," Rice said in an organizational news release.1 "By focusing exclusively on dentistry and oral surgery, we can diagnose and treat oral diseases that would otherwise often go untreated."

The VDS network functions as a "concierge-style" extension of referring general practitioners' teams. Services offered include endodontics, extractions, jaw fracture repair, oral cancer surgery, periodontics, prosthodontics, and more. A referral from a primary care veterinarian is not required.

CityVet Casselberry opens under local veterinarian in Casselberry, Florida

On May 26, CityVet opened CityVet Casselberry at 202 State Road 436 in Casselberry, Florida, under the ownership and leadership of local veterinarian Kaitlyn Guerrido, DVM. The new practice is the latest addition to CityVet's network of 81 veterinarian-owned practices and brings more than 15 years of veterinary experience to the Casselberry community.

Guerrido began her career in 2012 as a kennel technician and went on to work as a client service representative, veterinary assistant, and technician before earning her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Ross University in 2020. According to CityVet, Guerrido was drawn to Casselberry after recognizing a need for accessible, high-quality veterinary care in the area. Guerrido also brings six years of experience in theriogenology (small animal reproduction medicine) to the practice.

The clinic will offer a full range of services, including preventive and wellness care, diagnostics, dentistry, surgery, and urgent care.

"I deeply empathize with pet parents, always striving to understand their perspectives and challenges," said Guerrido in a news release.2 "My approach is to provide the best possible care for each animal while helping pet owners feel supported and informed during stressful moments."

Vets Pets to open Wilson Veterinary Hospital – West in Wilson, North Carolina

Vets Pets, a North Carolina-based cooperative network of veterinary hospitals, announced plans to open Wilson Veterinary Hospital – West on Raleigh Road Parkway West in Wilson, North Carolina, this summer. The new site will serve as a second location for Wilson Veterinary Hospital, which has served the community for more than 50 years.

The expansion will be led by Carrie Raymond, DVM, who has spent her entire career at Wilson Veterinary Hospital since graduating from the North Carolina State College of Veterinary Medicine in 2003. Raymond's clinical interests include internal medicine, dermatology, and behavior. James Lupton, DVM, who has led the original Wilson Veterinary Hospital as partner, will continue in that role at the existing location. Both sites will operate under a shared standard of care, offering preventive wellness, vaccinations, diagnostics, dentistry, and surgery for dogs and cats.

"Wilson has been my professional home for over 20 years," Raymond said in a company announcement.3 "I've watched families grow up with their pets here. Leading this new location is a chance to bring that same care to more of the community, and I'm excited to build something new while staying close to the people and place I love."
