The bone anchor is inserted using a basic hand chuck. Once the anchor is fully inserted with a few bending motions, the hand chuck snaps off the insertion shaft, leaving behind no sharp edges. The hole in the head of the anchor has no sharp edges and accepts two strands of large-size monofilament suture. The Securos 2X bone anchor is available in a 3.5-mm size and has numerous applications.
