A minimum of 10 percent of the revenue generated, or $100,000 if the practice grosses $1 million a year, should go to the business owner since he assumes financial risks that no one else in the practice does. As an investor in the business, the owner needs to see a fair return on the investment; otherwise, he or she would take the investment money elsewhere.
