AVMA Executive Board members approved promotion during a Nov. 16 meeting, where they also officially named Dr. Gail Golab, director of the Animal Welfare Division. Golab's title previously included an 'interim' designation.

"Gail is globally recognized for her expertise and experience in animal-welfare issues," says Dr. Ron DeHaven, AVMA executive vice president, in a news release. "She has served the AVMA exceptionally well in this area."
