Accomplished veterinarian receives award in New York City

The Veterinary Medical Association of New York City recently honored Mark E. Peterson, DVM.

The Veterinary Medical Association of New York City recently honored Mark E. Peterson, DVM, as Veterinarian of the Year. Peterson was recognized for his service to the veterinary profession and contributions to the Veterinary Medical Association of New York City.

Dr. Peterson is a pioneering animal endocrinologist and globally known veterinarian based in New York. For more than 30 years, Peterson’s research efforts have helped advance the profession’s understanding of endocrine disorders in dogs and cats. In 2001, he opened his first clinic in Westchester County, N.Y., which specialized in radioiodine treatment for hyperthyroid cats. He later expanded that clinic with a location in New York City.

Throughout his career, Peterson held teaching positions at the University of Pennsylvania, Weill Medical College of Cornell University and Cornell University, and received a number of awards, including Outstanding Service to Veterinary Medicine Award from the Veterinary Medical Association of New York City. He has authored more than 475 journal articles, book chapters and research abstracts.
