She explained how the components, including personal responsibility coupled with community support, can lead to changes in broken systems.

Betsy Charles, DVM, MA: I believe that self-care is important, but I believe that community is important too. So I think that . . . we're tackling the systems, we're looking at education, we're looking at practice models, we're looking at the systems too, I just wonder sometimes if we have gotten too focused on 'self, self, self, self' and we're not caring about the people in our community.
