September marks National Service Dog Month and dvm360® would like to showcase the work that these animals do by highlighting some recent news regarding service dogs. Read more on these 3 articles celebrating service dogs and honoring the hard work they do every day.

The 'Paint Your Pet' Event comes from a partnership between Painting with a Twist, a paint and sip company, and Dogtopia, a dog daycare franchise. The 2 companies are joining forces to raise proceeds for the Dogtopia Foundation in order to train service dogs for U.S. Military Veterans.

The Visible Impact Award will celebrate and recognize the impact service dogs working with veterans suffering from posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) have and the organization that trains these incredible dogs. Purina Dog Chow announced this new award as part of its 5th annual Service Dog Salute program, in partnership with the Association of Service Providers for Military Veterans.

On this episode of The Vet Blast Podcast, Bill Miller, DVM, DACVO, talks about his work with the American College of Veterinary Ophthamologists (ACVO) and his involvement in a program that provides free eye exams for service dogs. Miller stated in the podcast, "We recognize the dogs from the various service groups, whether they be police dogs, or drug detection dogs or diabetic assistance dogs or guide dogs need to have excellent vision in order to do their jobs."

Thank you to all the service dogs!
