2009 Year in Review: A plan to spur adoptions

2009 Year in Review

New preserves for wild horses in the East and Midwest is the latest government plan to help foster adoptions. The Bureau of Land Management keeps 32,000 horses in holding facilities and manages another 37,000 free-roaming horses in 10 western states. The new plan is aimed at creating two new preserves to help ease growing numbers and improve adoption rates. Go to Proposed wild-horse preserves in East, Midwest could spur adoptions.
