Mikayla Mayland, DVM, DACVS

Mayland was born and raised in the beautiful state of Colorado, however, her studies have led her all over the country. She completed a bachelors in biology and anthrozoology from Carroll College in Montana before completing her DVM at the University of Minnesota. During her time in veterinary school, she served on the chapter board as well as the National Board of the Veterinary Business Management Association and was the president of the student chapter of the American Association of Equine Practitioners. She then completed a year-long rotating internship in Los Angeles before heading to the University of Missouri for a surgical oncology internship. Mayland received her surgical residency training at Cornell University. Her publications (under the name Mikayla Schroeder) range from mapping of the fascial planes for oncologic resection to analyzing demographics of residency applicants.

After residency, she held a position as a staff surgeon at Alameda East Veterinary Hospital in Colorado. She is thrilled to have joined the Zoetis Specialists team in February of 2025. Mayland calls Franktown, Colorado her home base where she lives with her husband, 3 warmblood horses, 3 cats and her 13 year old Labrador Retriever, Denali.
