Dani McVety, DVM, co-founder of Lap of Love Veterinary Hospice, talks about her experience with communication styles throughout her veterinary career. She learned right out of veterinary school that what you say to a client about your veterinary education and experience is not as important as how you say it to them.
She also learned that veterinary clients don't need to understand every single part of their pet's procedure, treatment and condition. The client just needs to be able to walk out the exam room trusting their veterinarian even though they don't know all the ins and outs.
