National Report

-- A new educational Web site aimed at creating greater awareness among pet owners about diabetes was launched, just in time for Pet Diabetes Month in November.

Many owners are unaware of pet diabetes, a disease that afflicts one in 200 cats and one in 500 dogs globally, according to reports. The new Web site, PetDiabetesMonth.com, will give pet owners an online resource for learning about the condition, providing tips on early detection and living with the disease.

The site offers personal stories from pet owners, along with useful terms and links to other information.

Intervet/Schering-Plough Animal Health is sponsoring Pet Diabetes Month in November and the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) supports Pet Diabetes Month to educate pet owners on the signs and appropriate care for the disease.
