VOHC accepts new water additive from Dechra

Dechra Veterinary Products announced that its Vetradent liquid water additive recently received safety and efficacy approval from the Veterinary Oral Health Council (VOHC). This new water additive was accepted to help control tarter for canine oral care.1 The water additive is a part of Vetradent's at-home dental care line, in which all products from the care line produced with Biotrate technology. According to an organizational release, Biotrate is scientifically formulated to work against bacteria by altering the environment in the oral cavity.1

“Pet owner compliance with at-home dental care is important for a pet’s dental health and having the VOHC accepted seal on the Vetradent water additive will help veterinarians feel more confident when recommending an easy-to-use water additive," said Mike Eldred, president of North American operations for Dechra, in the release.1

Dechra is hopeful that pet owners and veterinarians wil be more comfortable and willing to use the Vetradent water additive for dogs after seeing the VOHC seal on its packaging.
