VMX 2027 will encourage attendees to reconnect with their purpose

Hosted by the North American Veterinary Community, the annual Veterinary Meeting & Expo will offer more than 1000 hours of continuing education.

The North American Veterinary Community (NAVC) will open the 2027 Veterinary Meeting & Expo (VMX) on January 16, 2027, in Orlando, Florida. The event will feature an “Off the Grid” theme designed to encourage veterinary professionals to “Disconnect to Reconnect.”1

The conference will offer in-person and virtual attendance options, more than 1000 hours of continuing education, skill-specific tracks, new electives, and an expo hall featuring more than 800 industry leaders, startups, innovators, and animal health care providers.

Gene O’Neill, CEO for NAVC, noted the theme reflects the need for veterinary professionals to step away from daily noise and reconnect with the purpose that brought them into the profession. “We live in a busy, noisy world where finding time to disconnect is almost impossible,” O’Neill said in a news release. “This theme gives our veterinary community permission to be present in the moment, focus on the passion that drew them to veterinary medicine and reconnect with their ‘why.’”

Program to address clinical and practice priorities

According to NAVC, the full VMX 2027 program will be released later this summer. Planned educational topics include care considerations for French bulldogs, acupuncture use cases, feline health management, practice management and client communication, and end-of-life care discussions with clients.

Dana Varble, chief veterinary officer for NAVC, said the program is shaped by issues veterinary teams encounter in daily practice. “Our education program at NAVC is largely influenced by real-world issues the veterinary industry is facing every day,” Varble said in the release. “Professionals across the veterinary care team come to VMX to sharpen their skills and expand their knowledge in areas directly impacting the well-being of animals. They also have a chance to connect as a community to share best practices, swap stories and renew their commitment to the profession they love.

For practicing teams, the planned content suggests a mix of immediately applicable clinical education and operational sessions aimed at improving client communication, patient care, and workflow. The inclusion of end-of-life care and practice management topics also reflects continued attention to the client-facing and business pressures that affect veterinary teams across settings.

Expo hall, startups, and product launches

In their theme announcement, NAVC officials described VMX as a key early-year venue for animal health companies to announce products and business updates. The organization said trends emerging from the conference—both in education and in the product marketplace—often help inform the industry’s direction for the year ahead.1

The VMX Expo Hall will include established companies and emerging businesses. NAVC also noted that VMX will continue to support startups and innovators through the New Product Gallery, Pet Pitch Competition, and Startup Circle. These offerings are intended to give companies a platform to introduce products and services, develop new ideas, and connect with global animal health leaders.

Early Bird registration for VMX 2027 is available at $250 per person, according to NAVC. Student registration is free. For veterinary professionals who cannot attend in person, NAVC will offer a virtual VMX option with education and entertainment programming. For clinicians, technicians, and practice leaders planning CE for 2027, VMX 2027 offers broad professional development with clinical education, business content, product discovery, and networking opportunities across the veterinary care team.
