Narda G. Robinson, DO, DVM, MS, FAAMA, president and CEO of CuraCore Integrative Medicine and Education Centers, says that just as a veterinarian would ask what medications a patient is taking, they should also inquire about any herbs being used. It’s equally important, however, that veterinarians understand the pharmacological effects of those herbs.

Dr. Robinson explains that more education is needed in veterinary medicine programs so veterinarians can better understand how any herbal supplements a patient is taking could affect treatment.
