Veterinarian wins runoff election in bid for U.S. House seat in Oklahoma

Oklahoma City, Okla. -- A veterinarian beat out a rancher in a runoff primary for a U.S. House of Representatives seat in Ohio's 2nd Congressional District.

Oklahoma City, Okla. -- A veterinarian beat out a rancher in a runoff primary for a U.S. House of Representatives seat in Oklahoma's 2nd Congressional District.

Charles Thompson, a DVM graduate of Oklahoma State University, beat out rancher and PhD student Daniel Edmonds in the fight for the Republican nomination in the eastern part of the state.

Thompson, who won with 67 percent of the Republican vote, is now pitted against incumbent Democrat Dan Boren in the upcoming election this fall.
