Ferno-Washington, Inc. introduces the Aqua Paws underwater treadmill system designed for canine rehabilitation therapy. The system allows the resistance of water along with its natural buoyancy to reduce gravity, diminishing concussive forces, which promotes quicker recovery times for animals after surgery or injury, the company says. Warm water assists in pain reduction and provides resistance throughout the range of motion, the company adds. The system allows the dog to enter a dry exercise chamber. Filtered, treated and heated water is then transferred from a holding tank to the exercise chamber. The Aqua Paws underwater treadmill system is deep enough so the dog can do free swimming as well as controlled walking with the treadmill, the company says.
