IMEX Veterinary, Inc. introduces toggle pins and a suture passer designed to give surgeons the ability to effectively and easily repair coxofemoral luxations. Two diameters of toggle pins are available for repair of coxofemoral luxations. The cross-hole sizes are designed to be compatible with most commonly used sizes of monofilament nylon suture material. Depending on the size of suture used, the required drill bit may be approximately the same size as the toggle pin, or up to 1-2 millimeters larger. The blunt end of a suture passer can be used to assist with final passage of the toggle pin through the acetabular wall, the company says. The suture passer, similar to a large sewing needle with eye, is designed to be an economical device for passing suture down the femoral neck, the company adds. The passer diameter is 3.2 mm. By combining these with the universal aiming device, repair of coxofemoral luxations is greatly simplified, the company says.
