According to the manufacturer, the VET-Sonotron is a unique, non-invasive therapeutic device designed to treat pain and joint problems in both large and small animals, including horses, dogs and cats. It has particular benefit for breeds that are prone to hip dysplasia. The device employs modulated low radio frequency energy coupled with an audio wave to produce a corona discharge output. This output is dispensed as treatment units emitted through a hand-held applicator and applied in a circular movement directly over the joint or injured area. The number of treatment units applied may depend on joint size as well as the degree of inflammation. The compact unit weighs 30 pounds.
