The International Association for Animal Hospice and Palliative Care Opens Enrollment for the Animal Hospice Certification Program

April 20, 2023

SAP Partners | IAAHPC

The Animal Hospice and Palliative Care Certification program is an integral part of the IAAHPC’s efforts to positively impact the provision of animal hospice, palliative, and end-of-life care.

The program’s goals are centered around improving standards of care, including sharing best practices. Additional program goals are to promote an interdisciplinary approach to end-of-life care and to encourage a multi-modal approach.

“The AHPC Certification graduates are truly the cream-of-the-crop for hospice and palliative care professionals. As we have been helping our association’s members ready themselves for the changing market demands, putting this incredible program in place was the answer to helping our constituents achieve the next level of elevated services in this discipline,” 2023 President Dr. Sara Hopkins commented about the program.

Dr Diane Eigner, Certification program facilitator, also stated “Not only are we helping our association’s members with this enhanced learning, we are now hearing from veterinary colleges who desire to have this type of learning for their veterinary students. We are currently offering the first part of this certification program to University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine, with discussions being carried out with other learning institutions. It really is quite exciting, and very cutting edge for new graduates moving into veterinary care.”

The certification program is designed for veterinarians and veterinary technicians who hold a current license, and is RACE approved for approximately 100 hours of continuing education credits. Modules consist of online courses taught by industry experts and live workshops delivered at the annual IAAHPC conference. The Certification is awarded upon successful completion of the 5 modules, a hospice case report and final exam.

Registration for the certification program opened on April 15, 2023, with more details for registration HERE.
