KENILWORTH, N.J. - 11/30/05 - Schering-Plough Animal Health Corp. has donated $50,000 to the American Veterinary Medical Foundation (AVMF) to support the group's Veterinary Medical Assistance Teams (VMATs).

The bequest marks Schering-Plough's 50th anniversary. The donation was presented to Dr. Robert Gordon, immediate past chair of AVMF during a Nov. 30 ceremony at the company's offices in Summit, N.J.

"We are very pleased to receive this generous donation from Schering-Plough Animal Health to help us provide the veterinary medical care needed in times of emergency," AVMF Chairman Dr. Tracy Rhodes says in a prepared statement.

AVMF has collected more than $1 million in donations this year to fund VMATs, teams comprised of volunteer veterinary professionals who most recently aided animals affected by the Gulf Coast hurricanes. Established in 1963, the foundation is the nation's largest veterinarian-directed charity dedicated to disaster preparedness and response.
