RECALL: Voluntary Recalls of 2 Food Products Due to Beef Thyroid Hormone

March 20, 2017
American Veterinarian Editorial Staff

Two products have been recalled voluntarily due to the potential risk for elevated levels of naturally occurring beef thyroid hormones.

Two dog food products have been recalled voluntarily due to the potential risk for elevated levels of naturally occurring beef thyroid hormones.

After ingesting high levels of beef thyroid hormones, dogs may show signs such as increased thirst, increased urination, weight loss, increased heart rate, and restlessness. Signs may resolve on their own after use of the food is stopped.

Dogs that continue to eat the food may show more severe signs such as vomiting, diarrhea, and rapid or difficult breathing.
